Family trips to the Oregon coast always included a stop for lunch at a small roadside diner. Once out of the car and in the diner, my sister and I would dart towards a slick shiny booth next to the window. We loved playing under the table and bouncing on the glossy seats. While all the noise made my father a bit cranky, it always reminded him that family is everything.
