Growing up in the 1950's was all about creating your own fun.  Every kid in the neighborhood had a pair of metal roller skates on the back porch. Skating on smooth pavement was the best...until one of your shoes came out of the skate! Skate keys were worn on a string and hung around the neck for such occasions. In no time we’d be back on both skates, flying down the sidewalk without a care in the world.
